Genetics Conversion
Began to convert the Genetics Lab website into the Dept Template today. Those intrested can check it out here:
http://www.ag.auburn.edu/fish/facilities/genetics-lab/
I will post more on this as the conversion progresses
Added WordPRess
Well I added WordPRess to the FAA Website. I am goign ot be using it to manage news items. Currently I have it feeding into our front page to display news items, 5 at a time. This keeps me from having to manually update the front page, as well as it keeps a dynamic arcive for me and anyone else wanting to look at past articles.
Also went ahead today and added past articles into the Blog from Ag-Illustrated. This went as far back as Summer 2003. We have more news stories from earlier days but, I have no idea were to look for those.
Update: Article Section
Added a “article” section for memebers to post information about their finds on the web or pdfs they recieve. The overall goal for this section is to allow the memebers to all have a say in what goes on the site, in a restritive kinda way ![]()
Slow Week
Lots of coding done this week.. I did a good bit on the new FISH Media page. Should be done soon. With everyone goe to spring break this place is dead! It is nice to work in provate w/o a million interruptions all day long!
Frustrating
This nutty program is giving me some serious fits when I am conneting it to Coldfusion… what a pain in the @$$ I think coldfusion and Vista are not playing nice at the moment… I am hoping to figure this thing out today.
Minor Changes
Minor changes today. Deans office is having us remove the “pre-professional” part on heatlh care off of the future studetns web site. If students do not ask directl we are not to advertise that we offer such. Seems silly to me overall, but I do not make these decisions! Thank god lol!
We plan to stream today’s faculty interviews so most of my day is spent setting upfor that and editing it. UGG I will never learn Flex at this rate !!!
AFS Contribute
Setting up AFS with contribute 3.11 today. Hopeuflly I do not have to teach the students!
Genetics Custom System
Shaolin from Genetics is wanting a custom location to develop a genetics project. From discussion with him early on Richard F. figured it would be wise to get the rest of the group involved.
The reasoning behind this was due to the posiblity of strain on the web server… after more conversations with Shaolin, Richard was correct.
Decision was made to either place him on a older solaris machine running Solaris 10 or free standin Linux box. Greg would like to avoid the linux box option if at all possible. Since CTU is not using any at the moment. We seem to be running more and more Window boxes now. NOt hurint my feelings ;-) I do not have to worry much about it. It does worry me that ASP might be pushed on us. I am not really a fan of asp..
